About the Artist

Artist Ann Farnsley has created visual fantasies for nearly 50 years. Her "spacescape" images have transcended paper and canvas, expanding her artistry to wood, ceramics, and fabric. From her southern Indiana studio that overlooks the Ohio River and her native Kentucky, Farnsleys art has evolved and proved to be timeless, appealing to a broad range of ages and tastes. An accomplished landscape and portrait artist, her abstract fantasy work is perhaps best loved. Her creations include whimsical people, animals and angels that dance, float and come to imaginary life under her brush or pen. The Farnsley horse has become a trademark and is widely associated with her art. Ann's art is regularly featured at exhibits throughout the region. During 2008 her work has been enjoyed by creative art lovers at Urban Kitty, Louisville; the Oldham County Studio Tour; Pendleton Art Center in Cincinnati; and Signatures Art Gallery in Vevay, Indiana. Past showings have included Actors Theater of Louisville, the Bristol Bar & Grille, the Portland Museum and Solar Flair Gallery in Rising Sun, Indiana. Ann became seriously involved in art while working in the fine arts library, as an undergraduate, at Cornell University. She holds a Bachelor's degree in history and art from the University of Louisville, and a Masters Degree in creative art from the Allen R Hite Art Institute. She has taken studio classes at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, the Athenaeum Art School in La Jolla, and the Mendocino (CA) Art Center. Ann has taught studio and art appreciation courses at Jefferson Community College in Louisville & Carrollton KY, as well as pottery & painting classes in her own studio. Currently Ann teaches children's art classes in Madison IN and freely admits, "The kids are probably my greatest inspiration, and path to reinventing reality. Their creativity & imaginations are boundless."
